Do you accept insurance?

As an out-of-network provider, I do not accept insurance directly. However, I will provide you with detailed receipts (superbills) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Insurance coverage for out-of-network mental health services varies significantly by plan and provider.

You may wish to contact your insurance company before beginning treatment to inquire about your out-of-network benefits. You may need to provide them with the relevant billing codes (CPT codes), which I will supply after our initial consultation call.

Additionally, you may use funds from a healthcare flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) to cover treatment costs. Mental health services may also be tax-deductible.

What is the frequency of therapy sessions?

We meet for therapy appointments at least once per week, and I often recommend meeting multiple times per week as this approach is frequently beneficial. More frequent sessions can facilitate deeper insight and self-understanding while potentially accelerating symptom improvement and creating greater therapeutic momentum.

For patients interested in psychoanalysis—a specialized form of insight-oriented therapy—sessions typically occur four to five times per week. The more frequent sessions, often with the use of the couch, allows for more in depth exploration of unconscious patterns and enduring psychological change.

How often are medication management appointments?

The frequency of medication management appointments is individualized based on your specific needs and treatment phase. Initially, we schedule more frequent appointments to monitor your response and make any necessary adjustments. As your symptoms stabilize and improve, we may extend the intervals between appointments, but continue to meet every couple months.

We will discuss the schedule during the initial consultation seessions, and this plan can be adjusted as needed throughout your treatment.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 business hours in advance. Appointments cancelled with less notice will be charged for the appointment fee.

What should I expect during the initial consultation?

Your initial consultation takes place over the course of several 45-minute sessions, providing ample time for us to thoroughly discuss the issues that are bringing you in, treatment goals, and determine if we are a good fit for working together. During this consultation period, we will discuss the concerns that are bringing you in for treatment, your personal history, and previous treatment experiences. This extended consultation also allows you to get to know my approach to treatment.
